Online Roulette Strategies

Online-Roulette strategies that increase your chances of winning

Or: “ Luck is what happens, when preparation meets opportunity.“

Truer words were never spoken in describing an attitude towards roulette in which a player is determined to win. Regardless of a player’s desires, hopes, and wishes, the little ball will lands wherever it pleases – but this shouldn’t be an excuse for the player to gamble without any sort of plan or preparation. Failure and big losses are all but guaranteed for players who fail to develop a plan ahead of time.

Experienced gamblers know that employing skills to make the right betting placements, patience, and wise handling of one's own funds can greatly contribute to |improving one’s overall luck.” The quote at the beginning of this article is from the ancient Roman philosopher Seneca, and our feeling at the casino school is that those words still ring true today.

The Martingale Strategy

The Martingale System, one of the most famous game strategies today, dates back to the 18th century, and is almost as old as roulette itself. As it is a strategy that is very easy to follow, it offers the opportunity to increase the chances of high profits by sticking to a consistent betting behaviour.

The idea is to only play outside bets that pay 1:1, such as red or black (Rouge/Noir), odd or even (Pair/Impair), or the number groups of 1–18 or 19–36 (low/high). With a win, the player gets his/her money doubled. The basic principle is to double the bet after each lost game, so that, if successful, all losses are compensated for and you win the amount of money you bet in the first round. There are many other roulette gaming systems based on the Martingale strategy, so we’ve broken it down for you in detail here:

Martingale Strategy Step by Step

1.      Let’s assume that a player bets the minimum amount of €1 on red.

2.      This is what might happen after having placed €1 on red:

Red wins => you take your winnings of €1 from the table, while the original bet stays on the table and you bet again.

Red loses => you double your bet to €2. If you lose again, you raise your bet to €4 and so on until red wins.

With the same amount of red and black numbers and just the 0 (no 00) in French roulette, the odds of winning are 18:37 – that’s 48.6 percent. In other words: The house wins 51.4 percent of the time if you only play one betting round. But if you take 12 betting rounds in a row, the math is affected. The chances of the house winning each and every single one of those 12 times are just 0.03 percent.

As the bets double each time you lose (“negative progression“), being able to use this strategy requires a certain amount of funds – especially in land-based casinos. It also really only works if you don’t have a long losing streak – in which case you could be out a fortune, trying to win just a pittance. In addition to that, you have to keep in mind that many casinos don’t allow their players to stick to a Martingale strategy for more than 10 games in a row (e.g., via instituting betting limits). Even though your chances of beating the house increase with each round of betting, this doesn’t imply that the ball will follow mathematical rules and probabilities in each game.

As in all games that are determined by luck, predictionsbased on calculations are more reliable and likely to become true the more often you try your luck.

The Martingale System in Online Roulette

Online casinosoffer the ideal environment to try and systematically apply the Martingale Strategy over the long-term. Even with a basic bet of 10 cents, for example, you could stand to make some pretty good money. The opportunities to win using this system are excellent. Even in just four rounds of betting your odds are 93.05 percent that your bet will eventually be a winner. In seven rounds your odds increase to 99.06 percent; but only insignificantly thereafter. Therefore, in the event of a long losing streak, it’s not necessarily the way to go to keep doubling your bets (this is also usually not permitted due to the table limits). It makes more sense to set yourself a losing limit; for example, by setting a maximum bet or a maximum number of betting rounds per session. If you’re unlucky, you’d still only have a small loss then, which could easily be compensated for later on.

The Nugget Strategy

The Nugget Strategyis also an easy and uncomplicated system. It consists of a triple combination of 1:1 bets and is, therefore, especially suitable for players who think that "single-track" oriented strategies offer them too little variety, but they still want to strictly play viaa systematic approach. The principle is as follows: you bet on three 1:1 bets: even or odd, red or black, and the upper or the lower half (Manque or Passe). You always bet on the same 1:1 bets. Only the stakes change as follows:

1) When losing, you cut your bet in half until it reaches 1: 8 → 4 → 2 → 1; once you hit 1, if you keep losing, you keep betting 1.

2) Every time you place a winning bet after placing a losing bet, you then double your subsequent bet until you are back to your original bet.
3) It’s a good idea to fix a winning target for each gaming session. Once you reach that goal, you end that series and start a new one.

Roulette strategiesare, as you can see, no instant recipes for super quick profits and winnings. Maybe the rather impatient gamer Albert Einstein had that in mind when he said: “The only way to win at roulette is to steal chips from the table." Well, at least with online roulette, there are different ways of winning.
