Basically, Red Dog is a game in which only three cards are used. After you place your initial bet, two cards are dealt to you face up. Cards are ranked just as they are in Poker. The value of any card from 2 to 10 is counted at face value, a Jack counts as 11, Queen as 12, King as 13, and an Ace is worth 14. Aces in Red Dog are always high. Suits in Red Dog are completely irrelevant. A single deck of 52 cards is used and is shuffled following each round of play.

After your first two Red Dog cards are dealt, you’ll notice a number of possible outcomes exist:

If the spread between your first two cards is greater than one, then the size of your payoff depends on the third card dealt. Should the value of the third card land between the first two cards, your payoff is calculated according to the spread as indicated on the Red Dog pay table.

If your first two cards and subsequent third card are all equal in value, your payout is 11:1.

If the cards are consecutive in number/rank, the hand is a push and your bet is returned to you.

If your third card fails to fall between your first two cards, you lose your bet.

Before your third card is dealt, you have the option of doubling your bet. For instance, if the first two cards are neither equal nor consecutive, you are given the opportunity to double your wager. This, of course, makes it entirely possible for you to not only win, but win big! The real key to optimising your winnings in Red Dog is knowing when to double your bet. Folding is not an available option in Red Dog.

1 card spread: Pays 5:1
2 card spread: Pays 4:1
3 card spread: Pays 2:1
4+ card spread: Pays 1:1
Three of a kind pays 11:1

Consecutive (Cons) cards and pairs are both considered ties (push) and in this situation, your bet is returned to you.
